NOTES
For Windows users, the word "folder" means a directory.
"USB Device" is any USB storage device used with the SCS.4DJ.
When a script file is mentioned, choose either the Windows BAT file or
the Macintosh app appropriate for the computer you are using.

1 Contents

This is a .zip archive with tools for automatically creating playlists for the
music you use with your Stanton SCS.4DJ, based on folders you create in order
to organize your music the way that you want.

2 Purpose

If you have a large music collection (up to 20,000 songs allowed per USB
Device as of 9/9/2011), using Browse on the SCS.4DJ can be difficult if you
want to find music based on certain criteria.

The tools provided in this .zip will let you organize all of your music into
folders and subfolders, by automatically creating playlists based on your
the organization method of your choice.

3 Example From Scratch

If you want to start from scratch, begin with a completely empty USB stick
or external USB drive and follow these steps:

  Step 1
Insert your USB device into your computer

  Step 2
Use your computer to copy the folder called "Music" in the .zip file
    directly to the USB Device.

  Step 3
    Safely eject your USB Device

  Step 4
Insert your USB Device into your SCS.4DJ unit.

  Step 5
After the SCS.4DJ recognizes your USB Device, press the Playlists on
the SCS.4DJ, then choose the Playlists menu item button on the side.
You should now see the sample playlists and music files included in the
.zip archive. Choose a playlist and proceed as usual.

4 Organizing Your Existing Collection

Follow these steps to reorganize your music collection on an already existing
USB Device, using folders and subfolders the way that you want.

  Step 1
Insert your USB device into your computer.

  Step 2
Create a new directory at the root of the USB device using a name that does
not already exist, or start with "SCS.". "Music" is a common choice (without
    the quotes).

  Step 3
Copy all ClearPlaylists, MakePlaylists, and ShowPlaylists scripts and apps
from the Music folder in the .zip archive into to the new folder you made
    on your USB device.

  Step 4
Inside the new folder you created on your USB Device , make additional
directories and subdirectories based on how you want to organize your files.

  Step 5
Move all of your songs on the USB device into the new directories and
subdirectories you created, based on your method of organization.

  Step 6
Run the script file named "MakePlaylists" that you copied into the new
folder you created by double clicking it. Make sure the script that you
run is the one that you copied, and not the one in the .zip archive.

  Step 7
    Safely eject your USB Device

  Step 8
Insert your USB Device into your SCS.4DJ unit.

  Step 9
The SCS.4DJ unit may or may not need to re-analyze your files since
they were moved. Eventually the newly created playlists will become
available. Some songs in playlists will not be available until the
SCS.4DJ analysis is fully completed (sorry about that!)

5 Changing Your Music Collection

After adding, removing, or renaming songs, or adding removing, or renaming
folders on your USB Device, it will be necessary to re-create the automatic
playlists to update with your changes using these steps:

  Step 1
Insert your USB Device into your computer.

  Step 2
Run the script file named "MakePlaylists" that you copied originally
by double clicking it. Make sure the script you are running, is the one
    located on your USB Device.

  Step 3
    Safely eject your USB Device

  Step 4
Insert your USB Device into your SCS.4DJ unit.

  Step 5
The SCS.4DJ unit may or may not need to re-analyze your files since
they were moved. Eventually the newly created playlists will become
available. Some songs in playlists will not be available until the
SCS.4DJ analysis is fully completed (sorry about that!)

6 Extra Utilities

There are two extra scripts provided for your computer system:

  "ClearPlaylists"

Running this script will delete ALL the playlists found in the places
    where you organized your music.

  "ShowPlaylists"

Runing this script will list all the playlists found in the places where
    you organized your music.
